Livelihood Field School under the Mangroves for Coastal Resilience (M4CR) Project - Riau Province, Lot 2

Livelihood Field School under the Mangroves for Coastal Resilience (M4CR) Project - Riau Province, Lot 2

Delivery of Livelihood Field Schools for coastal community groups across the mangrove rehabilitation sites of the Mangroves for Coastal Resilience (M4CR) programme in Riau Province. The assignment strengthens community capacity to develop sustainable mangrove-based livelihoods and secures the results of mangrove rehabilitation through active local participation.

The scope of work comprises:

  • Data collection and inception coordination with the PIU, PPIU and provincial stakeholders in Riau to align the activity plan.
  • Rapid assessment using the sustainable livelihood framework — vulnerability context, livelihood assets, institutions, strategies and livelihood outcomes of the target groups.
  • A one-month baseline survey at inception and an endline survey at completion, with pre-test and post-test analysis as evidence of programme indicator achievement.
  • Updating of Field School modules to reflect rapid assessment findings and the local context.
  • Delivery of Training of Trainers (ToT) to equip facilitators with field school facilitation skills.
  • Running six Field School sessions per group using an experiential learning approach, with field practice through demonstration plots as the core of the learning process.
  • Dissemination workshop on results and lessons learned, together with inception, progress and final reports plus financial reporting.

Each group involves a maximum of 15 participants with at least 30 per cent women. The approach is participatory: communities are not only beneficiaries but take an active part in assessing results, identifying lessons and shaping improvements. Delivery is coordinated with the PIU, PPIU, local government, village government and relevant technical agencies, including the Cooperatives and SME Office for strengthening the business dimension of each group.
